Inside my Dreams


When my eyes close at night, dreams of vivid neighborhoods appear. The only sound is the scuffle of my sneakers walking endlessly down a familiar sidewalk. Suddenly caught in a tiger chase, my footsteps quicken. In an alternate universe I try to make sense of the lines upon your face. I can barely make out your furrowed brow. The school bell rings, and I’m catapulted to school. Poised at a desk, my younger self furiously fills in bubbles on a test. A cover of darkness appears out of thin air; not a pin drop can be heard. I wake.
